NEXT UP

CLOSING OUT

The Shop Around The Corner

Closing out the year will be a revival of Blue Bridge’s charming Christmas classic – The Shop Around The Corner.  Inspired by both the 1940’s film starring Jimmy Stewart and Maureen O’Hara and the original play by Hungarian playwright Miklós László, this offering will place at one of the beautifully appointed Phoenix Theatres at UVic on December 13 at 8 pm, December 14 at 2 pm & 8 pm and December 15 at 2 pm.

“It has been a whirlwind effort by our newly elected 11-person Board of Directors since we came together at the society’s annual general meeting on March 18,” said the founder and former Artistic Director of Blue Bridge Brian Richmond. “The society was forced to cancel its previously announced season due to its exit from its ten-year home, the Roxy Theatre, earlier this year” stated the Chair of the Society’s Artistic Committee Mercedes Bátiz-Benét.” But now we believe we not only have selected three plays but three venues that have been worth the wait but have created a solid financial plan that will see Blue Bridge, once again, become completely solvent by the end of 2024.”

Blue Bridge Theatre Announces New Board of Directors and Staff

Brian Richmond the newly elected President (Interim) of Blue Bridge Theatre Society today announced the society’s new board of directors and staff for the 16-year-old professional theatre’s post Roxy Theatre era.

““Because we believe Blue Bridge Rep is so vital to the professional Victoria arts scene, myself and my fellow 10 incoming board members are committed to re-building this prestigious theatre company from the ground up. But we are also fully aware that this cannot be a one-person endeavour. To effectively do this we will need the faith and ongoing support of audiences, donors and government agencies. Which is why I am so excited that so many talented individuals are signing on daily as board and staff members to see us into the future.”

“Our current challenge is to clean up the past, but I think the real news about Blue Bridge will come when the highly talented Chair of the Artistic Committee, Mercedes Bátiz-Benét, announces her committee’s plans for the future later this fall. I can’t wait!”
