One of the most popular and widely produced musicals of the last 30 years, Little Shop of Horrors follows the orphan Seymour’s rise to fame, fortune and love through the care of a mysterious plant thirsty for blood. This smash-hit rock ’n roll musical, featuring Academy Award winners Alan Menken’s and Howard Ashman’s music and lyrics, has consumed audiences and critics alike for three decades. Winner of the Drama Desk, Drama Critics Circle and the Evening Standard Awards for Best Musical, Little Shop is sure to feed your craving for classic musical theatre! Led by the Creative Team whose musical sensation Ride The Cyclone took Canada and soon New York by storm, Little Shop will leave the gardeners of Victoria with a new perspective on the joys and perils of growing plants and humming its tunes for years to come.
Director Jacob Richmond, Music Director, Brooke Maxwell and Choreographer Treena Stubel have assembled a multi-talented cast that includes Sara-Jeanne Hosie as Audrey (who Victoria audiences will remember for her role in the Belfry Theatre’s The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), Cyclone star Kholby Wardell as Seymour and in the role of the voice of the plant, blues and jazz legend Jeff Jones (who has sung with a host of music industry legends such as The Count Basie and Lionel Hampton Orchestras, Helen Reddy and many, many more). Rounding out the cast are Chris Mackie in the role of the Dentist, Damon Calderwood as Mushnik, Kelly Hudson as Ronnette, Jana Morrison as Chrystal and Sarah Carle as Chiffon. Set and costumes will be designed by Blue Bridge regular Patrick DuWors with lights by Rebekah Johnson.
