Following a successful second season, we launch into an ambitious third campaign at Blue Bridge Theatre. Audiences have been coming back for more and more companies have signed up to help out. This is encouraging news, but it is by no means the financial stability that we need to continue to bring great theatre to Victoria.
Government funding cutbacks and changes in the business landscape continue to make financing difficult.
Yet there is hope. Even with a modest downturn in tourism numbers, Victoria still attracts more than three million visitors per year. We believe a gap remains in our beautiful downtown core for a resident theatre company performing the great classic plays. Early season numbers and individual responses indicate there is capacity for Blue Bridge Theatre to continue.
Our specific needs include -
- Production funding for set-building, costumes and props
- Operational funding to pay for theatre artists’ salaries, travel and accommodations
- Marketing funding to cover advertising, publicity and printing expenses
Why give?
Reach a lucrative audience
Blue Bridge attracted 10,000 theatres goers in 2009. Our capacity is 25,000.
Benefactors with Blue Bridge Theatre benefit from having their name and/or products shared with our patrons. Our audience is comprised of men and women who are of discerning taste. Theatre patrons tend to be educated, well read, employed people who enjoy the finer things in life like modern art and classic plays. Blue Bridge delivers marketing power. Our sponsors are assured of receiving a significant return on their investment, which is a rare offer for any newly-established non-profit arts group to extend to its stakeholders.
Promote local employment opportunities
Help put a promising young actor to work under the mentorship of a seasoned professional
Another benefit is the intergenerational link our charitable organization has effectively forged in its first few years of production. Blue Bridge Repertory Theatre is committed to employing young, local emerging artists alongside veteran performers to foster lasting careers and excellent learning opportunities for all ages. Blue Bridge is built on a solid foundation of support with the University of Victoria’s Theatre Department and the Capital Regional District which oversees management of the McPherson Theatre. Through its first three seasons of performances, Blue Bridge has created opportunities for more than 45 young and emerging artists in all areas of the theatre.
Invest in world-class art
Overall, our first year performance indicates we’re capable of great things.
Blue Bridge productions deliver award-winning acclaim: we’ve already established a recognized reputation for delivering quality theatre and we’ve already built a strong audience base. Blue Bridge has proven to be resilient to adversity: this theatre company has the ‘muscle’ to pull in full houses, secure solid sponsorship support and withstand operational change, evident in its first year which coincided with one of the harshest economic downturns in global history, and continuing towards a solid third season.
How we recognize our donors
The following chart is a discussion point: we prefer to work with our various sponsors to ensure they are recognized in a manner best suited to their liking and their business needs. We offer a full range of communication methods, including sponsored media support, to promote our events and to also properly acknowledge our sponsors.
